Tennis is a fun sport because of the competition, friendships and exercise but did you know that there are extensive life-saving benefits that come along with it? You can gain up to 9.7 more years of life just by spending 3 hours on the court a week. Here are 5 reasons why tennis might just save your life:

1. Burn Calories

Tennis is one of the highest calorie burning sports out there. While playing a game with your friends or hitting with the ball machine you can burn up to 630 calories an hour! Tennis is a full body workout working muscles in your legs, back, chest, arms, back, and core. While you run around the court and burn calories, you can increase your metabolism and prevent future health conditions.

2. Remain Social

Socializing is super important for our emotional wellness. The more you socialize with people the higher your optimism and self esteem. Playing tennis with your friends or joining a tennis team is an amazing way to get talking and to meet new people. Remaining social as you age can also reduce your change of dementia which is fantastic as tennis is the perfect sport for older people as well.

3. Reduced Stress

Lowering our stress levels is essential to living a longer and happier life. You have to adapt to stress while playing tennis which can translate to the stress and recovery of daily life. Learning how to adapt on the court can make you better in every day stress situations (and keep that skin glowing in the process!).

4. Healthy Heart

Due to tennis' aroebic nature it can get your heart pumping easily which will eventually lower your blood pressure and increase your cardiovascular health. Spending time on the court each week will keep your organs and body healthy and will make your heat much happier.

5. Increased Immunity

The exercise you do while playing tennis increases the strength of your white blood cells and increases the efficiency of your immune system. Tennis players and athletes in general tend to adopt healthier lifestyles which include nutritious foods, proper hydration, and a better sleep cycle. Adding these habits to your daily routine will allow you to spend less time sick in bed and more time doing what you love.

All in all, if you want to live a longer, healthier life, tennis is the way to go! I hope after reading this you decide to give tennis a try. Once you start, you'll wonder how it took you so long to pick it up!
